A comedy of survival, identity, and unexpected friendships in the Sinai Desert.
When Ben, an ultra-Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn, sets out on a journey to save Alexandria’s Jewish synagogue from closing, he never expects to end up stranded in the Sinai Desert with a grumpy Bedouin named Adel. With no transportation and only a camel for company, the two must navigate their differences—and the vast desert—before time runs out.
The Jewish congregation of Alexandria faces closure after losing its tenth male member, a requirement for religious services. Desperate to save their community before Passover, Yechiel in Jerusalem sends his visiting nephew Ben on a mission to be the tenth man. But when Ben misses his flight and finds himself stranded in the Sinai Desert, his only hope of reaching Alexandria is Adel, a Bedouin searching for his lost camel.
Their journey quickly becomes one of survival, as car trouble, water shortages, and cultural clashes put them to the test. Along the way, Ben and Adel discover their shared humanity, a deep respect for each other’s beliefs, and a surprising friendship. As fate intervenes, Adel takes an unexpected role in completing Ben’s mission—disguising himself as an ultra-Orthodox Jew in a daring effort to save the synagogue.
A heartwarming and humorous tale, No Name Restaurant explores faith, identity, and the unifying power of food in a world that often focuses on division.
